The biggest LEGO premiums over RRP
588 LEGO sets in our current dataset have enough eBay-DE listings to support a defensible median. This report shows which of them trade highest over their original retail price — and which stay surprisingly close to RRP.
Snapshot date: 24 May 2026. Sources: RRP from Brickset (lowest EUR value across DE → UK → US → CA), market value from the median of sealed Buy-It-Now listings on eBay-DE. Filters: at least 10 comparable listings per set, RRP from €30 up.
01Top 20 · Biggest premium over RRP
Sets whose current market value exceeds RRP by the widest margin. Typical drivers: discontinued UCS Star Wars sets, older Modular Buildings, and short-run collector editions.

02Near retail · Sets within ±10 % of RRP
For these sets, buying at retail today means paying roughly what the sealed secondary market currently asks. Useful for your own collection — low downside risk without a pronounced collector premium.

03Which LEGO themes hold their value?
Median premium per theme, restricted to themes with at least five qualifying sets. Modular Buildings leads by a wide margin — a direct consequence of short production runs and steady collector demand. Technic and Friends, by contrast, hover around RRP.
Methodology
- Data basis
- Latest Brickset RRP and latest eBay-DE sealed median per set, both captured within the past 30 days. Premium = (market − RRP) ÷ RRP.
- Quality filters
- At least 10 comparable listings per set, RRP from €30 up. Sets with thin data are deliberately excluded — single listings can distort the median.
- What is not included
- Real sold-comp prices. We show asks, not realised sales — asks typically run 10–20 % above sold prices. eBay Marketplace Insights API access is in preparation.
- How to read this
- A high premium is not a buy recommendation. Sealed inventory ages, storage has a cost, and the secondary market corrects spikes quickly. Steinwert is a data tool, not an investment tool.
